Brig

I was trying to recall why we actually stopped in Brig, and can’t… pretty much because there’s nothing to recall. It’s a small picturesque town at the foot of the northern slope of the Simplon Pass in southern Switzerland, just over the Italian border. During our 2006 trip, it was our first stop after leaving Rome. Our hotel was situated right beside the Stockalperpalast (Stockalper Palace), which was built in the mid 17th century by a local silk merchant. Tours were closed when we were there, but we could still walk around outside.

It rained most of the time we were there, but that didn’t stop us from hiking about town and having a pint in many of the local pubs.
