Trail Ice

© 2012 Kevin Collins

I took this shot while walking on the TransCanada trail just down the road from our house. There was a small patch of ice in a ditch next to the trail, and I really liked the patterns that the air bubbles made in the ice combined with the grass randomly shooting out in all directions.

I took a couple other photos of this spot, but they were all from a perspective looking straight down onto the ice, giving no sense of depth. This shot was taken quite low with a large aperture which throws the background out of focus.
