Tonight our camera club went on its first weekday outing of the season. The location of choice was Museum Hill in Peterborough, Ontario. I’ve lived and worked in and around Peterborough for 8 years and never knew this place existed. It’s basically a large hill in the centre of town. From the top, there is basically unobstructed views of the entire city. Our assignment for the evening was to capture the sunset and try our hand at star trails. It was a cloudless sky with some great colours but a full moon, so capturing starts was quite difficult.
The first photo is a small pine tree at the edge of the parking lot. I closed the aperture right down to create the star effect and silhouette.
Since the only lens I own is the one that came with my camera, I wasn’t able to zoom right in on the moon but I still like the solitary effect of the single tree silhouette with the moon.
