Fire Station

Tonight our photography club tried something a little different. Our weekly outing brought us to the fire station in downtown Peterborough, Ontario. At first I thought it would be awkward, but the firefighters made us feel welcome by providing us a variety of photographic opportunities, including bringing a ladder truck around back, extending the ladder, and spinning it around.

There were so many people there, that it was difficult to get a decent shot of an entire truck without having at least one person in the shot. Not to mention that behind the fire station is not very photogenic to begin with due to dumpsters, garbage cans, other cars, etc. Most of the shots I ended up taking were either close-ups of truck components or other parts of the building. Stephanie was upset to learn that I didn’t take any pictures of the firefighters themselves… I figured that would have been weird.

  1. Awesome work man! Your use of lines here is just great. I like how #s 4 and 5 almost bleed into one another, while still remaining separate shots – would make a great vertical dyptich. # 1 is also a great piece.
