This past Saturday morning I had the pleasure of doing a family photo shoot for the Menard family. I can honestly say it was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever had to photograph. By the time we got going, the sun was high in the sky and bright… very, very bright. We had to try and find a balance between having the family face the sun and squint, and pointing the camera at the sun and just getting silhouettes.
Add that to the fact that it is nearly impossible to get 5 people (two of which are under the age of 4) to look at the camera at the same time, and it made for a challenging morning. This was a fantastic educational experience from a family portrait session standpoint and has provided a number of ideas that I can incorporate into the next time I try this. Anyways, here are a couple shots from the morning.
