It has become tradition for photo bloggers to post an end of the year wrap up, with top photos from the year and this blog is no different. I’ve been doing just that for the past 5 years. Over the past couple years, this photography hobby has taken a turn in a direction that I never, in a million years, thought it would. If you asked me 5 years ago about what I think I would be doing in 2017, I most definitely would not have guessed that I’d own several dozen film cameras in a variety of formats and just about give up using my digital, but alas, here we are. Makes me excited to see where I’ll be in another 5 years.
This year was spent shooting film almost exclusively. The rare times I broke out the digital camera were for very specific situations where film just didn’t make sense. I finally was able to get into large format photography which has changed my whole outlook on the way I shoot. I also started shooting the almost extinct 127 film format and love it!
One major accomplishment was my Backwater photography project where I shot a number of back alleys in downtown Peterborough and turned it into a small photo zine. The project was also featured on the PTBO.ca website where the feedback I received was quite positive. Below are some of my favourite shots from 2017. Thanks as always for visiting my little corner of the Internet and have a safe and happy 2018!
