And so ends another year. I think I’ve taken less photos this year then in all the years I’ve been doing photography. Personally, I think the quality of photos are better than previous years, so I’m okay with shooting less. I’ve barely shot any pictures in the past three months due to work commitments, and just a general feeling of being uninspired. I think a big part of it has been my changed perspective of social media. I don’t use Facebook anymore, I’ve only posted one thing to Twitter and Instagram in the past month and Flickr (my photo storage and sharing go-to platform) is changing its business model and charging users – so I’m out. Social media is how I’ve primarily shared photos in the past, and if I don’t feel like using those platforms anymore, it’s almost questioning why I’m taking photos in the first place. I think I need to go back to basics and create photos just for the sake of creating. To make prints and photo albums to show family and friends. Maybe print and frame enough to do a small exhibition. Who knows. I’m scared and look forward to what the new year will hold for my little hobby. But I guess that’s half the fun.
Below are some of my favourite shots from 2018. Thanks as always for stopping by this little corner of the Internet. Have a safe and happy 2019!
