It’s week something something of quarantine and we’re getting on just fine. Our family has slipped into routines which make life easier. The boys have assigned daily school work which we try to expand on involving some math, writing and some sort of outdoor/creative thing. My oldest does Muay Thai classes via Zoom 5 days a week and we’ve been going for lots of walks and bike rides, and playing with the dog. We’ve found a certain day and time of the week where our grocery store is empty of people and fully stocked on the shelves and is the only time one of us leaves the house. We’ve also been able to connect with family and friends weekly to have a video conference beer and swap survival stories.
It’s taken several weeks, (six to be exact), but I feel we’ve finally gotten into a groove that seems works for us. I’m almost enjoying this time at home with family. Sure, it’s tough to find some personal time or space, but I feel like we’re connecting with each other more than ever. There’s no longer any rush to get the boys from daycare, grab a quick bite to eat before rushing off to some sort of evening activity. We don’t have to get up early, make lunches and run down to the bus stop, before racing to work to make a 9am meeting. All that pressure and responsibility is just gone and I think our level of patience has greatly improved. Even though it’s supposed to be a high stress time, our family is quite calm and happy, and I’m loving it. We’ll need to figure out a way to try and maintain some of this when things return to normal.
Anyways, that was my rant on how we’re doing as of now. Below are some more images from our time at home. I’ve basically just been leaving a camera lying around and randomly snapping shots as the mood strikes. Check out my first round of photos here.
